TUITION

In line with current guidelines my studio, from which I teach and record, is plenty big enough for maintaining social distancing. It also has a powerful but quiet fresh air ventilation system keeping the building healthy and safe.

Piano and keyboard - in person or Zoom

£20 (inc vat) half hour lesson / £40 (inc vat) hour lesson

Whether using the ABRSM grades syllabus or finding alternative ways, I offer experienced teaching for all ages. Playing piano and keyboards in various roles on many different stages has enabled me to bring a wide amount of musical experience to any lesson.

The studio has a pristine Steinway model B grand piano upon which to teach. This allows clear focus on technique and musical expression. I also have a wide selection of real and computer based keyboards for less piano-centric teaching.

I have taught throughout my professional life, both private students and in academic institutions. I spent several years teaching BTec Performing Arts at NW Kent College, UK,  where we maintained Ofsted Grade 1 status throughout. Many of my past students are now having careers in music and all aspects of performance.

Studio engineering and production

£120 (inc vat) 8 hour day / £75 (inc vat) 4 hour session

With a wide selection of equipment, my purpose built studio facility offers a great environment for teaching and advice on recording and engineering. From the initial set up of a session, through recording, editing, mixing and mastering I will explain various processes and techniques and tips for getting the best from any session.

Using high quality professional studio equipment, including many valve condenser mics, Logic Pro X is the studio DAW of choice; I having been using it professionally since 2003. In addition to Neve and UA pre-amps, I have a large library of state of the art plug-ins.

The rate above remains the same for groups of up to 4 people per session.

Music theory - in person or Zoom

£20 (inc vat) half hour lesson / £40 (inc vat) hour lesson

My musical training gained me a BMus (Hons) degree from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Alongside the traditional study of harmony, counterpoint and theory, there was a large element of contemporary composition and musical approaches.

There are many ways to understand and approach the composition of music and its analysis. I offer tuition in the more traditional ABRSM theory syllabus, jazz harmony or more contemporary approaches to creating music.
